Kenya has joined the International Schools Sports Federation. But what is the implication of this for you?
If you are football fan who wishes to see Kenyan football return to its former glory, this is a welcome development.
This is welcome news to many students in Kenya as they will now get the opportunity to take part in the Secondary Schools Games which begin in 2018. The development is also good news for the country as it is being presented with the chance of showcasing its potential and hidden talent to the world. Kenya’s joining the International Schools Sports Federation will also open gates to those who want to explore new sports and do something big in their life.
Kenya joined the International School Sports Federation on May 22, 2018 during the general assembly of the World schools sports organisation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
David Ngugi, the Secretary General of Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association who attended the general assembly, stated that only those teams that finish top at the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Association will be given the nod to take part in the global competitions which will be organised by International Schools Sports Federation.

However, while this news is welcome, it can also be a challenge for various sporting schools around the world but particularly for those from Kenya as the teams have to work harder than ever before. The challenge calls for better focus and access to infrastructure for budding talents; something that the Kenyan government needs to look into as well.
For now, we are sure that it will be a great deal of joy for fans to see Kenya participating in the competitions of International Schools Sports Federation.
It is a great opportunity for Kenyan students as they can now get the much-needed exposure to boost their sporting and schooling career by performing at an international level.
