Dubai Company Acquires African Construction Expos

The Big 5, that says it has over the past 36 years connected thousands of global suppliers and buyers of construction products and technologies, has taken over African Construction Expo and Totally Concrete of South Africa. A United Arab Emirates-based company specialising in the management of building and construction shows has acquired four of South Africa’s leading construction exhibitions.

The Big 5, that is touted as being the largest construction event in the Middle East and that also organises The Big 5 Construct East Africa exhibition and conference in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, has acquired African Construction Expo and Totally Concrete (May 16 – 17, 2018) in Johannesburg, Cape Construction Expo (September 12 – 13, 2018) in Cape Town and KZN Construction Expo (February 20 – 21, 2019) in Durban are the four construction events acquired by The Big 5 of Dubai.

Cape Construction Expo of Cape Town is one of the four building and construction exhibitions acquired by The Big 5 of Dubai.“The events offer our clients the opportunity to reach a construction market which is expected to grow considerably over the next five years, ” says Andy White, Senior Vice President in charge of Construction. “Working closely with our new colleagues in Cape Town, we’ll be working hard to ensure that our exhibitors have the opportunity to meet quality buyers, establish long term business relationships and get the best possible return on investment.”

The Big 5, that says it has over the past 36 years connected thousands of global suppliers and buyers of construction products and technologies, says that more than 2 500 companies from 60 countries exhibited their construction products and solutions at its event in Dubai in 2017.

The Big 5 Construct East Africa was first held at Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi in November 2016 as the official exhibition of Kenya’s National Construction Week. The event was postponed in 2017 due to unfavourable political climate in 2017.

The organisers of The Big 5 Construct East Africa have set November 7 – 9, 2018 as the dates for the next expo and conference dedicated to developers, investors, buyers and professionals operating in the built environment of Kenya and East Africa.
